Repton is an academically selective school and all children who are considered for a place are assessed. The intention of the assessment process is to evaluate a child’s
potential for future success. We look for potential, not just specific to particular activities, but also in behaviour, attitude and character.
The assessment process is carefully designed to be a fair measure of a child’s ability in a number of areas. All assessments are age appropriate. Repton uses paper based tests and Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT) to assist in the selection process. All children applying for Y7 onwards take CATs which are computer based. All Junior School applicants are given age appropriate assessments based on work our current pupils undertake.
Assessments are carried out in school or arrangements can be made for children to sit the tests at their current school. For Nursery, Reception and Years 1 and 2, assessments can only be conducted in school. Assessments for the Junior School are held every Sunday at 9 am.For Nursery and Reception please allow 1 hour.
