Gabriela, best known as Gaby, was born and raised in Switzerland where she studied economics, law and IT at the University of St. Gallen. During her academic studies she also worked as an International model, learning the demands and value of a hard working industry at a young age.
Gaby then worked in Switzerland, heading straight into a managerial position in marketing with Sony overseas, and then as a consultant at McKinsey Switzerland. She took a holiday to Dubai in 2001 with a friend, where she met her to-be husband Sam Katiela, Managing and Creative Director of mamemo productions. After this, Gaby never looked back and partnered with Sam in mamemo as director of events.
